Harvest Report

2014

Overall, ripening progressed slowly, though harvest began and ended at typical dates—January 30 and March 24, respectively. It was a vintage of normal production volume, with grapes showing low sugar concentration and delicate aromatic profiles, particularly notable in varieties well suited to such conditions, like Tannat.

Following a winter slightly drier than usual—with 18% less rainfall and notably low average minimum temperatures, particularly in July—the season transitioned into a warm, humid spring. Rainfall was concentrated mainly in September and October, stimulating vigorous vegetative growth without the need for irrigation. Although springtime minimum temperatures averaged nearly two degrees above normal, a localized moderate frost affected some southern vineyards.

Summer began with regular rainfall, which intensified during the first half of February before giving way to a dry, sunny period with cool temperatures—conditions that allowed excellent polyphenolic ripeness in certain Tannat parcels.
