Harvest Report

2007

Rainfall and air temperatures were normal throughout spring; however, January brought virtually no rain (just 3 mm) and high atmospheric demand, resulting in moderate water stress at the onset of ripening. This scenario favored sugar accumulation and the synthesis of polyphenols.

The water stored in the soil during winter was sufficient for a strong start to the growing cycle. Rainfall and air temperatures were normal throughout spring; however, January brought virtually no rain (only 3 mm) and high atmospheric demand, resulting in moderate water stress at the onset of ripening—conditions that favored sugar accumulation and the synthesis of polyphenols. February saw normal rainfall, distributed in light showers that maintained the vineyard’s hydric balance without causing dilution. Late in March, rainfall intensified, doubling the twenty-year average. Harvest began five days earlier than usual, starting with Pinot Noir on February 1 and ending on March 22 with Tannat destined for *Familia Deicas Cru d’Exception*. It was a balanced vintage overall, yielding excellent results, particularly for Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Tannat.
