The 2005 vintage experienced a fairly even distribution of rainfall from the winter of 2004 through harvest, with both totals and frequency aligning closely with the twenty-year average. The exceptions were September and March, when rainfall was about half the normal amount, and January, which saw a single late-month event exceeding average levels. Temperatures remained moderate, with a few notably cool days in January and February, when minimums hovered around 10 °C.

These environmental conditions particularly favored early white varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, as well as later-ripening reds like Tannat destined for the Roble and *Cru d’Exception* lines. Harvest took place within the normal period, beginning on February 9 with Sauvignon Blanc and concluding on March 30 with Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines intended for aging stood out for their noble, intense tannins that mature beautifully in barrel.
